While watching the Roanke Webcan @ 4:50 PM wed. 1.23.2013, I observed 2 Locomotives pushing a red caboose   in a Northly Direction, What a great sight to see on live cam, Does anyone know where it was headed, would like to visit it, WNL-  bus5@windstream.net.

WHOA!  Bet that was really hard on the wheels of the caboose running over the tracks at a right angle!  Harder still for the locos to push when on the ground!

Those tracks are EAST-WEST... Must have been pushing West... It is common the see a caboose once or twice a day.  They pull cars East with the caboose on the end and then pick up cars that are then pushed West and the caboose is used as a "shoving platform" for a Trainman to stand on and have control of the brakes and radio communication to the Engineer for control of the train in the backing move.

I am sure it is done this way so that the engine does not have to run around the train to get on the other end of the train in both yards.
