1982 hasn't been anywhere on the old Mopac near me. Last time I saw it was on 844's Little Rock Special.
Dakguy201 When the hertiage program was first announced, I believe UP said they were going to attempt to keep the locomotives assigned to lines originally operated by the railroad the heritage unit represents. Obviously departures from that policy were going to occur, but I wonder if there remains any portion of it intact.

A guess would be that that particular 'Policy' would be administered as something not set in stone, but at the perogative of the UPRR's Power Desks(?) to address local and immediate power needs.
The 1988 'Miss Katy' seems to be a very well traveled unit...I've seen You Tuber Videos of it running in Northern Ohio, California, and several other locations 'off-line'. THe UP has been pretty good about bringing her back to Parsons, Kansas for their annual "Katy Days" celebrations.
I can't speak to the whereabouts of the other Heritage Units in their fleet.
The 1988 was leading a train from Roseville to Salt Lake Sunday and this always draws a few of us out to take pictures. It was very cold in Northern California with temperatures in the teens at Truckee later on in the day.
There are addtitional pictures below in the slideshow.
