That's part of the story.   News on CNN about the line also lists the ticket prices, which many potential travelers say is more expensive than flying and takes longer than a plane.

That may very well be!

If you have ever taken a domestic flight in China, you´ll prefer to go by train, even if it takes much longer.

China now has the longest high speed railway in the world, 1500 miles(2300km)  it cruises at 186mph (300km/hr) it makes 36 stops and there are 155 trains a day, next year China will spend 96 BILLION dollars on railway infrastructure, they better watch out or they will be catching up to North America.

They also have a southern high speed line which they have slowed down after a crash which killed 40 passengers,  China now has 6,000 miles of high speed rail, 1/2 the target in 2015 of 18,000 km.
