The Maple Leaf in Ontario

Sam1 made an Amtrak pertinent post in the thread concerning secession from Amtrak wherein he expressed uncertainty as to what company's on-board service personnel ran between Niagara Falls and Toronto. The Amtrak timetable shows that VIA operates the train between Niagara Falls, Ont, and Toronto, which tells us that the train is operated by VIA employees. When my wife and I took the train to Toronto nine years ago, the Amtrak attendants detrained in Niagara Falls, Ont., and were replaced by VIA attendants. I doubt that this procedure has changed.

When we traveled from Toronto to Chicago in 1997, we rode in Superliner cars that were pulled by a VIA locomotive.

Non-germane: When the customs inspectors boarded in Port Huron, we were asked one question: "You two hitched?"
