It's a good thing this country isn't  trying to emulate them.

It seems more likely the Chinese railroad managers are trying to emulate  us, particularly the managers of the Union Pacific when it was built.

Very interesting story.  The money wasted (in bribes) makes you wonder what they really could have built.  It's a good thing this country isn't  trying to emulate them.  Mischief

Thanks for the article.  It sure makes me not want to ride a Chinese train.  Worst of all is the contempt of powerful men for human life.  Comments like "a generation must die" are scary.

You might be interested in this recent article in the New Yorker about the recent crash of the high speed passenger train in China.  It highlights what happens when modern technology is put into the hands of an organization where expediency and corruption are pervasive.
