Hello Mr. Dawson,
Can you tell me anything about one of these Berwick Built Bathtubs that was painted white and numbered BFFX 1977 or 1978 or 1979. I have a photo of it but I can't tell the number on it for sure and have been searching for info on why it was painted white.
I've been told the black one with Berwick Built Bathtub was used as a demonstrator.
Thanks Andrewwww.BerwickRailFan.com
Carl,
You are correct. It was painted for display at a show for advertising purposes.

Thanks, Balt!
Here's what it looks like from here:
UFIX 2091 ---> PMRX 2019 (not a typographic transposition) ---> DJJX 30305.

I know that here on Norfolk Southern's Lafayette District, they are now used to haul scrap metal and other sorts of scrap. Some cars are only rated for 45 mph.

It does appear that UFIX 2091 was the only one so lettered ?

CShaveRR Balt, would you be able to tell us the intermediate operators for the car?

Yes, indeedy!
(Until demonstrated otherwise.)
So you guys are saying this is a one of a kinda paintjob I found?
Those stencils would have been added by David J. Joseph. But yes, the "Berwick Bathtub" lettering was original to the car (why that particular car I don't know; I don't think it was the original--the "bathtub" design was patented in the U.S. by the Youngstown Steel Door Company and presumably licensed to the Berwick Forge and Fabricating Company).
CShaveRR [snipped - PDN] This is a one-of-a-kind paint job, as far as I know.
The pair of "Do Not Tamp" stencils/ warnings are different, too.
That I have been able to research through UMLER it's original number was
UFIX 2091 It has been several owners since then.
This car was one of literally thousands of coal gondolas operated by Utility Fuels, Inc.Its original number was UFIX 2091. This is a one-of-a-kind paint job, as far as I know.
So I was wondering who was the original owner of this car? It's clearly a patch job.
So Any clues as to the prior owner?
