How Many?
Posted by bnsfkline on Friday, September 3, 2004 9:32 PM
How many Union Pacific Standard Cab locomotives have the new Wings Logo? I have seen 3, a B30-7, SD50M and a GP60. I know there are others, but how many, and will any Standard Cab units get the FLAG?

I thought someone made the mention a while back that UP was going to stop putting the flag on the locomotives.

I hope not. NS has been running a bunch of UP power here for several months in the Northern KY area and I like seeing them.

UP should have to get a license from the US government to use the flag.

There should be no flags on any bus the newest wide-nose units.

As for the wings, the current intention is also wide-nose only. We have three SD38-2s in our yard that got them before that directive came down.

I'm pretty sure that the modern version of the wings is more prevalent now than the wings on the cab units ever were. (A roster freak who has a better grasp of the quantities involved could help out here.)
