I was photographing one this afternoon. It operates on a leased section of NS line here in GA. There is a group of shortlines in NE Georgia that runs a pair of them. A WM Chessie operates out of Social Circle, GA. And the one that I saw today is a B&O Chessie. Both are GP9s. They also have an old B&O down in Social Circle for parts. I posted pics of the B&O here in Athens over in the thread about railroads through college towns.

I've mentioned this several times recently, but they also have a collection of CNW, Rio Grande, RF&P, B&LE, and Conrail most of which are still in orginal paint.

Some pics of the WM are available here (click Social Circle for more:

Oh and I forgot that they have a Chessie caboose from the late 30's down in Social Circle too. You can see in on the above site I believe. I'll try to get that film developed and post some more pics later.

Go to Railpictures.net and they have a SD40 that is still in C&O paint that was just down on the shortline between Cincy and Louisville last week.

They have only painted the front and back in CSX colors. The rest is in the C&O
scheme. It don't have Chessie but it's nice to still see falling flag paint.

I have searched under "CSX 4617" and that will bring up all the photos.

There is a man I know that works at Queensgate that has also told me that they have an engine still in Chessie colors and one that is still in Seaboard System colors. The one in the Seaboard colors is in a paint scheme just as I described the C&O above. He said they are used more for yard work.

The last time that I saw a Chessie loco was #9122 on 8-31-03 in Lansdowne Maryland just West of Baltimore.Well it was kind of a loco. This former geep is called a rcpush. It has a normal body but the prime mover, generator were removed, the fuel tank plugged, and remote control equipment installed in the carbody.Any locomotive connected to it can be used as a remote unit.
