I find it interesting that the railroad many love to call "boring" because of their no nonsense black paint, has flat out outclassed the "other" railroad celebrating a major anniversary this year.

They brought these units out of the paint shop and put them right in service.  There was no "cloak and dagger"  move, transporting them under a tarp to an unveiling for the brass or special guests.

The company I work for?  If I want any anniversary trinkets, well feel free to "purchase" them through the company store.  I think Ill pass.

Don't forget Amtrak's four or five units painted in prior paint schemes for their 40th anniversary last year.

A couple of other "heritage" schemes, some are in general usage:

KCS "Southern Belle" colors

Connecticut DOT uses NH McGinniss Madness colors

Iowa Interstate has an ES44AC in Rock Island colors

Iowa Northern painted its F40PH in Rock Island "Rocket" colors

Wheeling & Lake Erie 101 is in P&WV colors (it was ordered by P&WV in 1964)

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Is there a list of heritage locomotive railways that have, and are going to paint them in heritage colours?

Tatans:

Currently, there are only two major railroads that operate 'Heritage Fleets' (inclusive of equipment/cars and locomotives)  They are the Norfolk Southern and the Union Pacific.

linked here is a site that has photos of the UPRR 'Heritage Locomotive Fleet'.

The link to NS Corp's Heritage Fleet was provided in this Thread as well by another poster, Dave ( Phoebe Vet) provided the link to the NS Corp site.

Actually one might also include within the definition of 'Heritage Fleet' a corporate business car fleet, as many of those cars although many are very well maintained, are age-wise,"a little long in the tooth". Whistling

There are a number of other railroads that have painted some or maybe just one in what to their railroad is a heritage scheme. The Indiana Railroad springs to mid, and I am sure there are others that might be mentioned, as well.
