I enjoy Tom Nano's photography a great deal. His b/w shot of the depot was creative and the most skillful. The rain made it better. Its been known for photographers to purposely wet a scene to give mood but this was natural. His photography brings out mood the best if a theme allows for a thoughtful mood. Any one of Trains photographer's photographs have ended up as computer wall paper for a month until the next addition. His last artsy shot was the dark locomotive in an industrial scene. I like that one too. Still room for black and white photography.
But I had to vote for the MIke Roque's photo because of the fresh sky and the abandoned depot. It just makes a statement about a bygone era and the state of rail transportation in America. Perhaps even a statement about America herself.
Art Deco buildings I like and that NY Central building is one.

.....I vote for Eric Williams' photo. It "jumps out" at one when enlarging it. I like it's bright "presence"...It's colors, and nice clear, sharp images. Also like the fact, the Trains are seemingly active as all have lights aglow.

Three of them all ran head to head, Mike's, Tom's, and Eric's...
Not being from that part of the world, none of the places held any real "historic" significance to me personally, so I sat there bouncing back and forth and went with the one that offered the most visual appeal.
Eric's had a lot of interesting detail hidden all through it, in fact I copied it and will study it even more tonight.
But for all around "Look at me" quality and interest, Tom's worked for me.
Photo just draws the eye.

Tom Nanos' picture of the depot in New Hope PA hit it just right. A somewhat historic diesel with an elegant looking building. And all done in black and white to boot - gave me the feeling of history.
Got to go with Eric's shot, it's nice and colorful and a great blend of the past and present. Plus I'm an old Jerseyman myself, so I DO have to admit to a bit of favoritism. Not much mind you, just a little.

I also voted for Eric Williams' photo of Hoboken Terminal. Not only is it historic, it still functions in its original role.
I am originally from NJ. I have always been a DL&W fan. I voted for Eric's shot. The only other competitor would have been almost any other DL&W station shot. if there were one in the competition. The third depot on the spot...the first replaced, the second burned...Hoboken has managed to evolve in use as the traffic patterns and owners have changed over the years. Only GCT, which is younger, remains as a great room in the New York Metropolitan area as all the other waterfront termnals are gone (except CNJ's which has no tracks and is a state park...and Penn Station is nothing more than platforms under a group of mezzanines and passageways with no great room remaining).
