Should we expect a DC version of the SD70ACe?

OK, I am very much a novice, so take this with a grain of salt; but, isn't the whole concept behind the SD70ACe pretty much the idea that, if railroads could standardize to AC power, they would be more efficient and EMD is gambling that railroads will find an all-AC engine roster attractive?
To the extent my premise is true, I would say: no.
Hope someone with more knowledge answers your question.

I believe the DC version of the SD70ACe is the SD70M-2. It will be in the same style carbody as the SD70ACe and use the same prime mover. Production is said to start in 2005.
