Amen to that. That is the biggest difference between the east and west. Here on the left coast every one seems to be very car centric.

I think the news stations are more attuned to railroads here because so many people ride them, and those people probably complained when the news stations didn't include train info in their traffic reports. Believe me, walking barefoot on broken glass is preferable to driving in DC traffic during rush hour (or any other time, for that matter).

This morning there was a "news alert" on NBC TV about the CSX (RF&P) line between Alexandria and Fredericksburg. Evidently "signal problems" were forcing then to use only 1 of the 2 tracks, and VRE service would be delayed. No mention of impacts to Amtrak.

I have no idea if this is related to the Brunswick signal problems from yesterday.

Back in LA I have never heard of any kind of news alert regarding rail service delays. The news stations are more "railroad aware" in the Wash DC area...
