Public facility dedications and not arranged for the public. They're arranged for the politicians, contractors and the press - all of whom are on duty at 1:30 on weekdays.

Why would the public, other than us railfans, want to go to the dedication of a station, anyway? It's just a ceremony, not a party.

You should bring a whole bunch of "get out of jail free" monopoly cards and if you get stopped by the police you can hand them one.

New Jersey's less a state than a state of mind.

But hey, don't laugh at Bergen County! I knew Bergen very well, and it is NOT one of the wacky places where people talk funny and drive like they want to be from Boston.

Seriously, the Ramsey Route 17 station is badly needed, but about as exciting as, well, Metropark. It's basically a big parking lot with easy access to highways... something comparatively scarce in Northern New Jersey commuter rail, and definitely on the ex-EL commuter lines. It's great for commuters, but not so great as a party destination.

Would you suggest having the party on Sunday, when the trains start running? Oh, I'm SURE lots of people will show up then! What, no free hot dogs like Ramsey Ford is serving... let's go test-drive a Taurus instead...

And exactly why is this station supposed to be a 'waste of time'?

[}:)] You are NJ Transit. You are openning a new $39 million dollar waste of time. (New mainline station in Bergen County NJ) You are going to have the dedication for the new station. I know! Let's have it on a weekday at 1:30 in the afternoon so that no one can attend! Better yet, we aren't goinng to have any trains actually stop there until 2 days later when it officially opens! Be sure to bring your camera and also bail money for when you are arrested for taking pictures! (Of course we all know that anyone with a camera is a terrorist threat according to NJT)
