The P42's painted in the orange, black, and white McGinnis-era New Haven (not New Heaven) color scheme actually belong to the Connecticut Department of Transportation (New Haven is the largest city in Connecticut). The commuter line from New York City to New Haven is owned by Metro North Commuter Railroad in New York State and by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) in the state of Connecticut. They share equipment ownership and Metro North operates the trains. Since 95 percent of the railroad lines in Connecticut used to belong the the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad or just "New Haven" for short, ConnDOT remembered that era with these P42's.

New Haven isn't the largest city.
It's Bridgeport.
