Great job Chris!!!!

I think the photo of the many walking on the platform would look amazing in black and white with a little more contrast. (Ive been on an B&W kick lately though)

....As usual Chris, quality shots.

My real favorite:  3rd shot down....night {or early morning}, on the platform with two standing commuters, lit up inside....ambience abundance.

Click the photo to full screen, and you're standing right there on the scene...!!!!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! It was a lot of fun to be railfanning my "home" rails again. I'm hoping to attend the CRPA event in April and will definitely try to earmark a little time along the rails while I'm home.

Really liked the second shot, although not a fan of the "blurred in motion" action stuff, the wet ground and such seemed to pop all the details and made them quite sharp, with the sharp background and blurred train you get a real sense of the feel of the motion and movement.

Looking forward to the NE shots too, bet the Mookie is also!

Chris:

Really cool shots!  You always manage some interesting twists,

The 'wet look' throws a curios and different angle on a rather mundane aspect of raIroading..Commuter Operations.

Thanks, for sharing and starting the New Year off great!

Love those 'wet' night shots!

I see windmills have appropriately invaded 'The Windy City' (Chicago, IL) area too!  It was thought California only did things like that.  A K.P. photo by the Amtrak Palm Springs (Garnet), CA station:

Back to YOUR photos, CopCarSS ... Great job!  Thanks for posting.

Put your lights and sirens on, and rush us more photos ... The Nebraska views are keenly awaited.

Nice to have you back in here, Chris!  You've been missed.

Looking forward to your Nebraska shots.  These shots here are giving me a little case of cabin fever, which your Nebraska shots will, unfortunately, do nothing to dispel.

So far the UP line out west in Illinois hasn't been encroached upon by the windmills.  I suspect it's only a matter of time, though.

Christmas Trip Photos - Pt I - Illinois
Posted by CopCarSS on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 9:11 AM

Howdy Gang,

I just got back from a trip to Chicagoland for Christmas. I didn't do a lot of railfanning, but I did get out a few times. Here are the shots from IL. Later today or tomorrow I'll post the photos from NE.

My cousin and I went railfanning in northern IL one day while I was home. For some reason, my K-5 kept over-exposing shots on me, so I didn't bother post processing very much from this excursion. Here's a shot from Rochelle for good measure, though:

New Year's Eve Eve turned out to be a rather soggy affair. I've always loved shooting in less than perfect weather conditions, so a journey down to the Aurora Transportation Center to shoot Metra in the morning seemed like a good idea. Here are the shots from that outing:

Finally, here's a shot taken in Shabbona, IL on my way back to CO:

And that's it for this round! Like I said, watch for Nebraska in the next day or two!
