I'm going' to start this new Thread in an attempt to help out Murphy Siding. I have not heard that much collective whining about having to move a library, in quite a while; at least since the last time I had to move mine!Crying.

So I am offering to him, and others, an on-line version of a History about the GM&O RR and its lineage.  I promise when you move the Computer those books will add no weight to the machine, Norris.

I found the link to it when making my in-frequent trips through the GM&O Historical Society web site : http://www.gmohs.org/GMO_Railroad.htm

" The Gulf, Mobile And Ohio: A Railroad That Had to Expand or Expire’."

    by James H. Lemly   ( linked);  http://www.acmeme.org/gmo/ .

Having grown up in the Mid South, I was a casual fan of the the GM&O, but mostly of the Frisco and the IC and NC&StL (later L&N)as well as the  MOP and RI.  And the scene around Memphis.

My all time favorite strange critter was the Ingall's Shipbuilding (4-S) #1900 of the GM&O, They kept it mostly around Jackson, Tn and Corinth, Ms areas during the 1960's  where I was able to see it.
