This weekend, Saturday Aug 14th into Sun morning Aug 15th, there will be an all night Railfan Night at the Cassandra Iron Bridge Overlook at MP255 on NS' Pittsburgh Line between Altoona and Johnstown, PA. John Shuniak will light up the park with diesel powered floodlights! Railfans can bring tents, chairs, grills, non-alcoholic beverages, and be prepared to watch and photograph trains til sunup Sunday.....Just a few guidelines....attendees should bring everything back out with them upon departure including trash, and should be mindful of quiet time of neighbors down the street if departing or arriving during the overnight hours...For more details, contact John Shuniak @ 814-736-4880 or E mail him @ flycassandra1@aol.com! Directions...I99/220 to Rte 22 west to Rte 53 Exit..Cresson, Lilly....Take 53 South through Lilly and Plane Bank...53 will do some ups and downs and you will come downhill and make a hard right across from a convenience store and at Signs marking Cassandra....Drive back along this road and pass the Overlook hotel and giftshop...a right turn will take you up a narrow residential street to the parking lot and Iron Bridge.......Hope to see you there!!!! Hurricane Charley may make it wet....Rain forecast to hit sometime after dark Saturday.....Event will go on as long as railfans keep on coming...If its a deluge and attendence is sparse, may close up overnight instead of running til Sunup...have to play it by ear....Dave Williams
