I agree that they look like DMUs. Do you have any thoughts at all on that station, M.W.?

I keep getting surprised by the commercial and almost missing the train, which is on screen very briefly. I usually have MSNBC on in the background evenings for the news while I am doing other stuff, and I think that it when it keeps appearing. I will have to start sitting sombie-like in front of the tube.

Welcome aboard!

My sisietr-in-law in Providence Rhode Island saw it and told me about it. I haven't seen it yet. But I will start to pay more attention!

Hey, thanks to all who responded. It's great to be here.
If I had to guess, the big brick/stone depot looks sort of French. The train, which as I recall is white with gold accents, also looks pretty European. I suppose it could be some Via service somewhere in Canada, but really none of it looks USW or even North American. But why on Earth would Land's End bother to go somewhere exotic for about 2 seconds of a commercial?

Have seen the commercial and I don't think they really show enough of the train to get a handle on what and where. I would assume that the general public will just figure it is Amtrak somewhere back east - and......most men will be looking at the vest and won't even see the train - it is a very attractive "vest".

Welcome - from the resident cat.

I've seen the commercial (she's advertising a vest, right?) but haven't a clue what train it is. I'll try to look for it again.

Land's End commercial
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 4:11 PM
I'm new to this forum (or any forum, so please be patient if I don't do things right) but a longtime reader of Trains. I figured somebody here must have seen the Land's End commercial running currently (at least here in Philadelphia) that shows people doing outdoorsy things in Land's End clothing. The opening shot is of a woman on the platform of a rural but pretty large depot, and she gets on a train I cannot begin to identify. Any one have any ideas?
