BNSF 1617
Posted by ericsp on Friday, August 6, 2004 11:06 PM
I recently saw BNSF 1617 at the UP yard in Fresno, CA. It appeared to a late model GP9 with a winterization hatch. It is no longer in the equipment register as BNSF 1617. I think that it was been a switch at the J. D. Heiskell & Company feed mill north of Pixley, CA. Does anyone have information on this locomotive?

I'm working from a 4 year old roster, and it was still on that. The other day I was visiting another member's website, and accidentally ended up on a different person's site and found this shot of a sister GP-9, 1607. The problem is I have no Idea when the photo was taken. In 2000, there were 79 listed. Here's the link to the photo.

I saw 3 SD-9's working for BNSF just last week. 6101, 6102, and 6120 looked rough. I wish I had had my camera with me.[:(][*^_^*][;)]
