I agree. I guess it shows how popular the Trains' forums are!

New servers under the Christmas tree at Trains this winter!

I'm runnin dial up right now, and do see that this site is really slow. I also open a diesel truck site at the same time and i am usually reading a second thread by the time the trains index is even up. This diesel truck site has at least 500 members on at any one time and each page is covered with ads and each member has an avatar to load. But it moves fast. I would like avatars here, but not if it slows things down even more.

Sorry for the rant, but dosent a part of my trains subscription come here?

I've noticed this site is slower than before. Maybe some defragging of hard drives (probably done best late night) and other maintenance are in need [;)]

Take care,

I've got cable broadband and in the last week this site alone has gotten noticeably slower and I've been getting server errors with messages to contact this sites administrator..

Mr. AntiGates' experiences pretty much mirror mine. Many delays, often long enough to trigger the error message.

Yes, the past few months even this site has gotten slow and unreliable at times.

I'l be speeding along posting and reading and checking things out, then the next thing I know the site will crawl to a stop and not load anymore.

On occasion it will load after a while, but lately I've even been getting an error message, and the forums won't load at all.

It's a pain when I have a whole chunk of threads I want to read, but only so much time.

I find myself being very selective when I pick a thread nowadays because I never know if it's going to load or not.

Very Annoying! [|(]

Disk space has little to do with it. If everything you do is slow then the problem is on your end. My problem is only with this site.

Im running a 4gh processer, with 1.2 gigs of ram, and dual hard drives at 80 gigs apiece. The video card with 128megs of ram dedacated only to video insures that anthing i want to do at any time can be done. Like today, microsoft train sim (at max realisim settings) is running along with a CD burn in one drive, a DVD burn in another drive, the media player is playing mp3s, the dieselstop forum is up and my processer is only at 75%. I open up trains.com, and it is the only thing that is slow.

By the way i added four fans to cool the beast and i can cook my toast on the exhaust. it also sounds as loud as my diesel, but i am proud to have built it myself.

Same problem here in So Cal. A couple of times I've gotten the "time out" error message but the back arrow worked to clear it

Has been running rather slow with a 2MB cable broadband connection in WNC. There was something earlier this week about a virus interrupting search engines like Yahoo! and Google and slowing them down, I wonder if there is any sort of relation.

Ditto all the above - I am on an office puter that has pretty sophistocated tech help - still have problems with Trains website, only. I do a lot of web work for research and they all respond very well.

So maybe it is because all of us want to talk at once? Maybe?

Remember that there are a number of forums running, including the other TRAINS forums, MR, Garden, Classic. Put 'em all together with what may not be enough server or an overloaded link to the 'Net and you could get slow. I have the same problem from time to time, and I run our network at work. I'm waiting for Bergie to weigh in...

Its been slow for me, also. I have a 512KB dl 128KB up DSL connection. Sometimes I get a 500-Internal Server Error which, I know, has something to do with the web server.

FWIW all, I am a fairly demanding WWW user, and the time taken to open a new page here (and only here) has gotten noticably slower over the past 1-2 weeks. I always check several other sites I frequent when these problems crop up, just to make sure it's not a local problem with my local provider, and these other sites, with physical locations all around the country, have been opening smoothly on demand.

Not sure where Kalmbach has their servers located, but they might be experiancing crowded node from the democratic national convention???

I guess I might as well join the growing list of people experiencing a slow connection. Its quite slow and because of that is one of the main reasons why I dont come into the forum on a daily basis. Such a pain to get in and load everything up. Dang dial up lol.
