Not a 100% certain about this , but on an Intermodal Forum, I monitor, there was some discussion, a while back, referencing a BNSF program rebuilding a number of 48' well car sets to handle 53' boxes.
IIRC one of the locations doing that rebuild program was a Progress Rail facility near Amarillo, Texas(?)
I know that I am seeing more and more of the 53 foot containers on what appear to be newly painted cars as I see on the COFC trains on the Transcon through this area.
Still waiting to see one of these!
Our errands may take us in the vicinity of the west end of Clearing tomorrow, so I shall keep my fingers crossed.
As for those DTTX 888000-series cars, we haven't been able to confirm their origin: they were definitely not new, though; the build dates were 1992. The best guess as to origin is that these single-unit cars are former CP three-unit drawbar-connected cars, divided up.

Nice photos, been a while since I have been trainspotting. Might have to see what photos I have in my albums to post here.

Which intermodal terminals will these operate between on the CN system?
Will they be used everywhere on the CN system?
CShaveRR Dan, the series is GTW 676000-676199. Send some down my way!

Do you have any reporting numbers to go with the GTW marks?
Lots of those three packs were brought to Durand by the Flint local. All were brand spanking new with nary a scratch on the paint. Where they went from there I don't know.

Here are two photos of new GTW CN National Steel Car Intermodal 53' Well Cars headed East to Battle Creek, Michigan in a very fast freight train. They have GTW Grand Trunk Western reporting marks to make them international freight cars.
