There was recently a load of hoo-laa over this engine. It has been for sale and everyone was concerned that it would be purchased by someone in another country and would be permanently exported. This did not happen and it was bought by the National Railway museum (partly by a 1.8 million quid grant from the government).
It has been in the shop for the past month for a few bits and bobs, and has just returned to traffic. It is currently running York to Scarborough on Tues, Wed & Thurs till the end of August.

Thanks for your update , my information was basically correct - glad see it's actually back out on the road..-- What area of Sheffield are you from? -- did many fan trips to sheds in your area back in the 60's during the steam era.

It's at the National Railway Museum in York -- It's now owned by them for the nation. I believe it's in the middle of a boiler retube and was due to run between York & Scarborough around this time of the month > Maybe a UK fan on the forum can update us!
