Just wondering...
Posted by AlcoRS11Nut on Saturday, July 17, 2004 7:45 PM
I know this is off topic as far as trains is conserned, but, I am trying to find a girlfriend, and all the girls I meet ask " So, what are you into?", I reply "Trains". I am met with to general reactions:
1. What a Freak!
2. Thats F*#&ing cool!
Unfortunaly only 2 said that it was "F*#&ign cool!", and they both had
boyfriends.[V]

Am I the only one getting this reponse?
Sorry it's off topic but I just got to know!

Thanks for dealing with me!

Don't worry. You'll find a woman who'll respect your hobby. I have and she is better at cooking than I am. Those are only two of the many reasons why I married her [:D].

You can tell your girlfriends that you're into 3 Dimensional art [;)]. That will perk their interest in you.

Take care,

Russell

I was gonna leave this one alone, but I guess you're a guy in need of help, and I guess I've been there too. I'm not going to tell you what to do per se except that appreciating trains takes a lot of imagination and knowledge, its an acquired taste. Finding a girl already into trains or at least receptive is probably quite a rarity. meet a girl for other reasons and show her over time that watching trains can be fun.

With 2 divorces and 3 marrages either I'm over qualified or under qualified to answer this question. Most women know where to look for guys and track side is'nt a place on their list. I did'nt tell girlfriends about my interests for quite some time, I was a good listener I'd let them talk about their favorite subjects, namely themselves and the other terrible relationships they've been in. Always agree with them each time they tell you how the last boyfriend was a complete jerk ,but be ready to hit the street when she dumps you to get back with the ex.

Randy-

You were good enough to attract 3 women and knew when to dump two of them. Sounds like a pretty good record to me.

Just be open an honest from day one.The day I proposed to mamma I got her standing watching a dash 8 csx loco coming over her shoulder. That pic is now a 16x 20 photo poster and has been in the train/computer room for many years. She helps with the hobby too and has even helped find rare cars for the layout. She even has started to take pics of me and matt while trainwatching so look out!

My 2nd wife loves trains and we were married on-board Amtrak's Acela while it was enroute to New York. So, hang in there, be patient, because, the ladies are definitely out there. Ever try posting on yahoo or other personal ad places? State your interests on there and definitely post a picture of yourself on there, too. I found most prople usually want to see a picture to go along with your interests, etc. Especially, since yahoo and some other sites allow the user to view only posts that have pictures.
