Any Railroads Today Still Operate using Train Orders or Track Warrents?

Are there any railroads out there still using operation by a timetable, written train orders, or a track warrent instead of CTC?

Anywhere there is dark territory there are track warrants (or their NORAC equivalent Form D) also used as needed with signals too...

All Class I's use a variety of traffic control systems....CTC, Track Warrents or DTC with automatic signals, Track Warrentt or DTC without signals, Current of Traffic signaling and CBTM (Communications Based Train Management) which is a computer based system relying on GPS locations of equipment.

I think there is some TWC on the BNSF Cuba Sub. southwest of St. Louis.

The WSOR uses track warrent for almost all there track. There are a few places where they cross over other railroads and cross over there own tracks were there is CTC.

To the best of MY knowledge,the P&L still uses the The Track Warrent System,
even though the track is signaled. Or at least that what the scanner says!!!!!!!

The Unoin Pacific still uses track warrents on the Sioux City subdivison starting at Cal jct. to Sioux City,Iowa.
Also,The UP uses Track Warrents on the ex-MoPac line from Gilmore ave on south from omaha,ne to Kansas,City.
And on the BNSF. The BNSF uses track warrents on the naper line from Kansas City to Pacific jct,Iowa.
The BNSF has track warrents on the Sioux City Sub. from Ashland,ne to Sioux City,Iowa.

If you railfran Roundout Illinois on the CP/Metra line you can actually see them still hoop up orders the old fashioned way. The nearby North Shore Line bridge provides a safe place to stand and photograph (just watch for the bike riders on the trail).
Combine that with a railfan visit to Brighton Park in Illinois, where the diamond is protected by manually operated semaphores and you can make a very pleasant day of 1900 style railfanning.

The UP's Shoreline Sub (from BJ East to the WC Connection) in Wisconsin uses Track Warrents, you can hear them on the radieo with the dispatcher makeing them out. For more info go to this link:

I know Iowa Interstate runs on TWC plus they market their version.Not sure which roads use it but I think their website has details. Ours runs TWC as well,but the train order and timetable has gone the way of the caboose (except fora few limited ones as noted above)I think the Katy was the last large railroad to dispatch and run on TT&TO I cant remeber the issue it was in but it was the early to mid 80's(I have it here somewhere but my place looks like a mad proffesors lab right now stuff EVERYWHERE) that showed a day on the Katy.

BNSF uses track warrents Ellensburg WA to Auburn WA and Ellensburg WA to Pasco WA.
