Mookie, not sure if I'd trade with you, being cold, cold, cold; but I'm not feeling too good today.  Don't know exactly what it is, but definitely feeling blah.

Our Sunday Dinner is going to be:

1.  Tuna Melt

2.  Sloppy Joes w/fries & salad; and whatever else you all can find in the kitchen.

You all take care, have a good afternoon and see you all later.

Greetings all!Smile

Caught 20T today headed eastbound. Sure is frosty today. Looks like it will warm up enough for us to get some rain later on this week (Were talking Monday into Monday night) just in time to start freezing and snowing again. Glad to see you all again!

Somebody must have broken the bulb on the thermometer - the temp is dropping like a rock.  I left Utica about 4:30 and it was ~+15F.  Half way home it was down to +2F, and right now here at the house it's -5F.

My waterbed sounds really inviting right now.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Justin, it's good to see you were in yesterday!  I think I'm feeling a bit better this morning.  At least, so far.  Funny thing is, though, I didn't sleep that well last night; tossed and turned all night.  (And no, I didn't take any naps yesterday.)

We have 25 degrees this morning, going for a high in the upper 30s to possibly mid 40s this afternoon, before the rain comes in this evening sometime.  The weather guessers are saying by Thursday, we could get 1 to 3 inches of snow again.  Probably why we still have some patches of snow left from the last snow.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Mookie, if you come in, I've set your coffee cup on the counter for you.  Regular breakfast items on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, keep warm, take care and see you all later.

Thanx CW - I am so in that coffee cup!

Leaving note for Q:  If you get on NL webcam within the next hour or so, those apostrophe-looking items in cam 5 are cows.  They come and go around that canal when the weather is nice.  At nite, they disappear into the tree line at the top of the camera and head to the barn.

Artic air coming in later today - must find hat and muffler.....

Already here.  Something less than -20F last night.  The weather station wimps out at -20.

No mail today, so no reason to venture out, aside from restocking the bird feeders.

Looks like we may get some freezing rain this afternoon. Roads and rails may become very slippery.

Be safe all!

I found this great automatic bird/squirrel feeder....I put peanuts in a bucket, seed in a bucket, corn in a bucket and a pail for water.  Then each morning my automatic feeder puts it all out for me.

Only drawback is I need to wait for him to get out of bed before it goes out.

Hi Jen......Just checked into the NL cams, and pulled up 1 & 2 just fine, but again, when we go to the milti cams....all six black windows come up flashing something like:  "connecting to network"...

Also if I wait awhile, one window will open with a pic. and it will be flashing and cycling thru several of the cam shots.

Just the one time that I connected to "multi", it did behave for me.

1 & 2 connect fine....sound just on 1.  Just watched several "local" type commuter trains fly by and a rather long "passenger train" fly by.

Time, about:  noon EST

Edit:  I note several others are in the "cold" artic figures....Right now, we're in a balmy 30 degrees.

Somewhat in a funk here.

Was just informed that one of my AREMA mentors, Bill Stokely (ICRR/FEC-Ret) had passed away. On the engineering side, this guy was a legend. Always ready to teach some newbie (like me) the how and the why behind railroad soil mechanics and railroad pipeline practice. He will be missed.Sigh.

We are having a warm spell here–the morning temperature was about 40o, and ice and snow are melting in the sunshine.

Mookie, we no longer have a bird feeder in the yard.  The one we had was getting kind old, and a good breeze would have it leaning too much.  Maybe we'll think about replacing it sometime soon.

Menu of the day:  leftover pizzas from Saturday night, and leftovers from Sunday Dinner.

At 1:43, we're getting light rain/drizzle.  Tomorrow, sometime, we're to get more rain, then dry out Wednesday, in time for more rain turning to snow Thursday, with maybe 1 to 3 or 3 to 4 inches of snow Thursday night/Friday morning.  Who knows, forecast will definitely change by then, and we'll probably get nada.

Everyone take care, keep warm, dry and enjoy the afternoon.

Q - when you do the multi - remember to add 7 hours to your time.  The best time to watch is usually either during the nite or before 9am local time.

If the cameras all say connecting to the media and don't buffer, they probably won't connect.  Back out and start again.  They will click usually after that.  By about 4-5 pm their time, cameras 4-9 are dark and not lit at nite.  Camera 3 is backlit and has a night vision camera because in about March or April, there will be a nesting pair in their with eggs.

Camera 4 is visible at nite, just not as plain.

Sometimes, if you get one camera, double click on it and it will open up to full screen.  Then double click again and it may bring up the rest of them with it.

Camera 2 has delayed sound on it.  If you don't mute it, it will play the train sounds well after the train has gone by.

Ok Jen, we'll keep fooling around with it.  Yes, I understand the time difference.

Another item:  I see 3 rows of potential  small screens.  But the info on the bottom row are hidden....or perhaps there are none.

Last evening, I sent a friend of mine in Pennsylvania the address to bring up this site.  I mentioned to him {in the message}, that after he arrives at the web site, to bring up cam 1 first, and he won't have to wait long for a commuter, passenger or a short freight train to fly by....

Well, I left the sound on and messed around on here doing other things, and of all the conditions to have at that time....Almost nothing moving for the hour plus I had the sound on in the background and heard {nor saw}, any trains at all.   I've never waited that long {at any time before}, to see a passing train.  Reading a bit more about this web site, they mentioned 100 to 110 trains pass in a 24 hr. time period.

Q - 2 items -

1 - either dbl click on one of the 3 bottom ones to make it a full screen and then you can shut off or turn down the sound OR lower your screen resolution to 75%.  Then you have access to all of them.

2 - they don't run trains after about 3-3:30 am, their time.  They don't start again until about 5-5:30 their time.  And after about 1 am, their time, they usually only run freight and maybe one cross country train.  (the longer one)

The 5th cam is a farm view from one of the communication towers (cam 6 and cam 9) where you will see cows most of the year.  In the fall, they had a tractor pull - very noisy and hard to make out just what they were doing, but they set up for almost a week before.   It was held just beyond the trees on the right-hand side of the cam.  Quite a festival.

I work an online jigszw puzzle during the day and can do that and keep an eye on movement on most of the screens.  I toggle back and forth a lot if I hear a train whistle and just watch the canal and the bird nest.  The black Jackdaws in # 3 are like our crows.  Real clowns, too.

Ms Mook - I like your automatic feeder.  I have a guest bedroom.....

MC - Found out Sunday that one of our volunteer engineers had passed away after a long illness.  Showing the range from which volunteers can come, he was a physician.

Not much warmer now - already below zero.  I think we had the low for the nation this morning.

Staying warm.

Smile  Today was a bright warm sunshine  day , temp was 78 to 80 deg.The winter birds what flew in are enjoying the nice weather.  A ruby throat hummer  stopped by the Salvia, still blooming red flowers.  This week is gonna be above normal temps. ~~  The longer we are away from snow , the less we miss it. If snow is required, we go 40 -to 50mi. north or turn on NOAA weather. Now for a piece of chocolate  cake~~ a big one and warm cider.   Hope youi'ns all stay well with " comfort" foods.

I thought I saw passenger / commuter consists in the wee hours of the mornings, but that was a year plus ago when I last watched, until recently again....If so, maybe schedules have changed.  Sure are plenty of bicyles riding around in the wee hours of the night / mornings.

That long passenger train that passes thru there is almost flying....I'd estimate it's speed in the 95 to 110 mph bracket.....Believe it's about 10 cars in length.

We'll try some of the clicks / moves you mention Jen.

34 degrees here now....and of course that means the snow must continue to melt...by the laws of nature.  If it doesn't I'll go outside again and remind it.  Just had the pup out probably for the last time this evening.

And they very well might be capable of such speed....They are electric...{Catenary}.

Can't sleep, so up watching trains on the Dutch railcam.  12:41 here, makes it almost 8 there, and there's been a fair amount of action, mostly passenger, but one freight.

It's raining there, and that comes in very clearly over my speakers.  Still dark, however.  And I'm surprised at the number of motorcyclists and bicyclists I'm seeing, rain and all.

Maybe the sound of the raindrops will make me sleepy...

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  MC, please forgive me for not mentioning my condolences on the passing of your mentor.  It sounds like he was a very good person.  Larry, sorry to hear about your loss, also.

We have 43 degrees this morning, with light rain.  Will probably see rain just about all day long.

Coffee, juices, other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is ready and on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and I'll see you all after I get through with Tuesday Produce and Bread/Pastry truck.

Time to walk down to the post office and check my mail.

....Yes the Netherlands cam # 1 is pretty interesting.  Just recently I've been watching again.....Noted a train schedule for the next 10 trains in the web site last night.

I'd be interested to find out from some sourse just how fast that long passenger train is flying by the cam.....I've given my estimate in a post last evening.

Here....We've melted most of our snow last night.  That's what we like to see....Light rain and above freezing temps this morning.  Later in the week we're to have two cold mornings....Down in single digits.

Right now....must go get ready to head to "Bruner's" restaurant as Jean and I will have some breakfast....Must get there before 11 as she wants a waffle.

There is a lot of information to read on the home page of the NL webcams.  Tells how it started, shows the area around the webcam, streets, town, etc and I think somewhere in there - possibly on messages, they tell how fast the trains go.  I spent quite a bit of time going thru all of the information and then used google earth to locate the cams.  Also read about the communication towers.  Very interesting.

If you keep watching now and get used to having it open and glancing at it every so often, in the spring it will get very active, since the peregrins, the hobbys and the ducks all raise their young.  The ducks nest very close to the camera - last year it was just across the canal in the high grass.

And during the dark hours, toward 3 am their time, you will see a lone locomotive zip past the crossing.  Around Halloween, it is spooky....  Moon  And MOW works on the tracks around that time, also.  They did some rail grinding awhile back - little dark to watch, but still interesting.

3-5 " snow coming tomorrow.  Sigh  But they are predicting maybe warmer weather in February.

I noticed last night that the #4(?) cam is somewhat ahead of the #1 & #2 cams, so you can get a little notice to pay attention to #1.

I was looking around the area on Acme Mapper trying to figure out where some of the other cams were.  No luck so far.

One issue I've discovered is that a "phantom" iteration of IE continues to run after all of the visible windows are shut down, at least on my PC.  It wouldn't be a big deal, but it's carrying the sound from one of the cams.

There is a station to the left of the #1 cam (out of view), which I'm sure catches many of the locals.  The bigger, through trains do seem to fly by.
