CN haulage agreement with BNSF
Posted by Randy Stahl on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 9:02 AM
The big news around here is that atthe end of July the long time agreement between CN & BNSF will end. CN says that a total of 34-40 trains per day will be routed onto the CN's own tracks now that the aquisitions of the DMIR and WC have made the BNSF agreement redundant. That will make for a total of around 60-70 trains per day on the old WC, far cry from the nearly abandoned RR it once was.

That ought to make some interesting trainwatching on the old WC. Even now trains are not making it to destination within their hours.

BTW Randy, you say that is the news around here; where is "here"? You have no info in your profile. And where did you hear about this? And is the source reliable? I sure hope so!

How could the WC fit 70 trains on their single track Main. I live in Stevens Pointnext to the new 40mph bypass. Where is all this new coming from. I have to admit that many trains would be neat though.

Thx for the info.

I don't see this happening. There just isn't enough room on these tracks for 60-70 trains. They would have to double track the whole thing. There are too many local's running on the line for them to squeeze more trains, especially in Neenah. Although if this does happen, trainwatching will be non-stop action.
