Duplainville is a very good spot for railfanning. If the Empire Builder is on time, you can get him mid afternoon Eastbound. The WC/CN runs plenty through there as does CP.
About a mile or so South of Duplainville, the WC passes though Wauskesha. There is a nice park right along side of the tracks. Nice open spot. There’s a small yard there too. WC has a siding approx ½ mile South of the diamonds at Duplainville. I’ve seen a number of meets there. You can see that from the park in Waukesha. It would be North of the park.
As I recall, the Wis. Southern runs through on WC tracks from Waukesha north to Rugby Jct (Slinger area). So you have a chance of seeing them as well.
On the CP, there is a nice depot about a mile and a half East of the diamond (town of Brookfield.) About 2 miles West of the diamond on the CP, the tracks skirt a lake in Pewaukee. Nice photo spot there.
Happy hunting.
