What was the last year of opertaion for the PRR, as the PRR. before any mergers, etc...

Actually ,wasn't the PC bankrupcy in 1970? I remember learning about the PC bankrupcy in college when it happened. I believe this bankrupcy is still the largest in history (?)

1968 was the last year for the Pennsylvania but 1976 was truely the end with Penncentral

Much like the Ontario and Western being considered the biggest railroad to go kaput until the Rock Island went bye-bye in 1980, I guess PC's bankruptcy was the biggest until the likes of Enron, etc.[xx(][xx(]

Actually, you are correct. I looked it up June 21, 1970 was the filing.

Well, my only point ws that both were "bigger bankruptcies" Than PC.

It would be interesting to see an inflation factored comparison in terms of "stranded assets as a percentage of the GNP "of the respective bankruptcies
