Cutting the grass actually sound better than fighting Chicago traffic. [:D]

Remember your sunscreen, and try to set some time aside for Edelstein Hill!

.....just because you went on a long holiday weekend a little early.... [swg][swg][swg]

Sheesh!

Oh no, I'm here all day mister. [:(]

I have to drive to Indiana tonight so I'm in no hurry to leave. For those that don't know, I'm not dissing Indiana, it means I have to drive through Chicago. That's a train wreck waiting to happen on any Friday, let alone a holiday weekend. In what will most likely be a feable attempt to miss traffic, we're leaving the Milwaukee area at 8 or 9pm tonight. I'm sure about 100,000 of my closest friends will have the same idea and I90/94 will be a parking lot.

For all the pain, I might take some time to go over to the Gary-area (I know, not always a good idea) to see the (former) steel mills and the railroads.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Bergie

Bergie,
You could take the train and wave to all the people sitting on the Interstate!!! [:D]

Jim

I actually considered taking Amtrak from Milwaukee to Chicago and then the South Shore Line down to near where I'm going. However, with two children in tow and all their associated gear, it would be difficult because Amtrak and the South Shore Line use two different stations in downtown Chicago, which would make the journey a much more challenging. I hate to say it, but in those conditions (with the entire family), the car sounds better. [V] I know, I know, but I'm being realistic.

I'm already preparing myself for the worst, so if it's bad I'm ready for it, and if it's good I'm pleasantly surprised.

Sounds a lot like the Washington, DC area. According to the radio traffic reports, I-95 northbound south of town was jampacked all day yesterday, as was most of the Beltway. And all that on the THURSDAY before the holiday weekend. The commute homeward tonight will be less fun than walking barefoot on broken glass. It's such fun living in this area (yeah, right)!

YOU of all people, are entitled to it![swg]

And BTW Thank You!

Are you bucking for a fourth star? [:D]

Seriously though, thank you. I appreciate your kind words. Here's a snapshot of what I do:

- Keep an eye on you guys
- Create and send all four Trains.com e-mail newsletters
- Post the Trains News Wire daily
- Answer reader e-mails
- Author and post the Trackside with Erik and Mike column
- Work with the magazine staffs on their online content needs (they post their content themselves)
- Work with our Ad Sales department on online advertising
- Work with our circulation department on online marketing promotions

That's about it. It's very diverse, very time-consuming, but I love it. No two days are the same.

I wish I had time to:
- nap
- take train pictures on company time
- spend company time in the Model Railroader workshop

Unfortunately, I, nor anyone else here, has the time to do any of the above. So close, yet so far away.
