all i got to say is....typical EMD tech-no-toasters.... they are either dead from computer problems...or as UP shows...dead from not being able to stay on the rails....either way...JUNK

lol, that really sucks. A multi- million dollar loco tumbled in a ravine. Makes you think when you accidently drop a model loco on the floor[xx(]

Hey csx98,

From your post I guess you like GE units best. If thats the case you're working for the right railroad.

yes i do... anything in the -9 serise of power... way better product then any of the EMD super power...even the -8s are nice compaired to anything that EMD has made int he past..and even the 70s and 80macs now..... only thing EMD has going for it is the wide cabs are alot quiter then GEs... but in overall proformace...im sorry to say...GE smokes EMD.....
but this is just 1 engineers oppinion...... the EMD/GE battle just keeps on going like the Ford/Cheve battle...

Ahh, it didn't go in the drink. Why worry. Hulcher and the Sidewinders will have it up and back on the rails in no time...

Somehow a single aspect signal managed to survive in that last picture....there are coal cars on either side of it.

I think I would complain to EMD that their blue and white submarines are junk,
it wont even stay in the water.
Threaten to go with GE Electric Boat Divisions model.
After all, most of the Dash 9s I have seen in the water seem to stay there.

Goui! The frame is not twisted, guys, this engine hasn't even lost it's trucks! This huge piece of motive power will be back on the road in a couple of months, albiet after an oil change. No, I dont' think UP will pay, it's a demo. Looks like it was a trailing unit, in a consist. A little over a hundred thou, and she'll make her mil. Thanks Dougal, for something to talk about, and I hope no one was hurt! ACJ.

UP isn't doing so hot. I can't wait to find out what's next.

How exactly did they manage that one?

Let's play "GUESS THE CAUSE".

It almost looks like those units were DPU's that kept pushing into the original derailment.

I didnt know there was a ford vs chevy dispute. i guess number 2 and 3 must fight about something cause dodge rules!!!! but in engines nothing GE makes can keep up with a EMD. i had to drag a train and its 4 dead GE dash-9 engines in yesterday with my 1 sd70. I guess they thought they had enough engines to make it 50 miles but they was wrong again.

As far as that picture That must have been one of those lousy engineers on a fast engine. who steered left instead of right.

and for the engineer who cant get a train across the road with out tearing it up we give you GE.

There is word spreading around other sites that the part of a computer failed in the SD70ACe and reversed it. When the crew noticed this they put the emergincy brake on, derailing the train. the is yet to be proff of this, but when the wrecking crew came, the loco wanted to only reverse, and the emergency break was on (not sure where is is from, but it was a UP worker, so i kinda trust it).

Have rode in both EMDs and GEs for UP, and the GEs are junk you can hardy stay in the seat on a AC4400 and the SD9043MACs, SD70Ms rode like a dream as did the 25 year old SD40-2s.
PS-Dodge had to merge to stay afloat and FORD and GM have not !!!!!!
