I am trying to find homes for two locomotives. One , an ALCO S-6 needs a good home, 6 cyl 251 has been overhauled, has 26L air brakes and kim start installed, currently on roller idler trucks but brass bearing trucks are in great shape with new brass. new wheels and recond. motors.
2nd a 65 ton G.E., needs work but many spare parts available, both engines are priced to sell, this little engine is perfect for back yards.
Lets see if we can find a good home for these machines.

Where will you ship? prices? Railroad (has paint been cleaned off)?

You may want to check with the West Coast Railway Association, they are always looking for locomotives and rolling stock....

Chances are they won't give you any money for them though, just a resonably priced tax reciept.

The S-6 is currently in the Chicago area, asking price is 20k but is negotiable, is on idler trucks so it can be shipped on it's own wheels at normal RR rates.
The little G.E. can be shipped by semi and we can get a pretty good deal from a local trucking firm, this engine is locoted at North Lake Wis.

Is the S-6 the same type engine as an S-1? The local shortline has 2 S-1, and i think they might need parts ( i'm sure you don't want to see your loco cut up but still)

They are the NHRS chapter, and run a really good hands on muesum.
They have resceued a few Alcos in the past, so it cant hurt to offer them this one...
