great idea.  I don't have a digital camera yet, but I've seen some great photos posted on Facebook pages by different people.  This should be fun to see what people will submit.

Trainboy: Trackside 146's theme is "EMD's 60 line." Click the link for submission details.

 Thanks for the interest!

BIG Trackside with Trains.com News!!
Posted by Matt Quandt on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 10:12 AM
We’re excited to share that we’ll be including one reader-submitted image in each round of our biweekly photo competition, Trackside with Trains.com.

For Trackside with Trains.com, we invite Trains staff members and magazine photographers to submit an image based on a particular theme. This round's theme, for example, is "Deep in the Woods." We then post the images along with descriptions supplied by the photographer in our Trackside with Trains.com section where you can vote for your favorite photo.

Starting next week, we invite you to join this friendly competition. We’ll select one reader-submitted image at random for each round.

This Friday, August 20, we’ll announce the next round’s theme in the forums and on our Facebook page. The deadline for submission will be Thursday, August 26.

All submissions must meet the following criteria:
  • Your image must be relevant to a particular round’s theme.
  • Only .jpgs will be accepted. PLEASE NO SCANS, only digital images.
  • Images must be no larger than 1024 pixels wide.
  • E-mail your image to trackside@trains.com. Any image e-mailed to a different address will not be considered.
  • When you e-mail your photo, please make the subject line: “Trackside vol. XXX submission.” For example, the next round is volume 146, so the e-mail subject line should read, “Trackside vol. 146 submission”
  • Images must be received by the deadline stated in each round's call for entries.
  • Your image must have a description. Please limit the description to 200 words or less. Include relevant camera and photo details in your description. View previous “Trackside with Trains.com” for examples.
  • Please include your full name and hometown with your submission.
This is a friendly competition. Winners do not receive any prize...other than bragging rights Smile
