On I-44 heading west out of St. Louis, Missouri, there is a train yard that goes right pass the yard. I've saw some in there a few years ago. Oh, and by the way, I think they're an old or discontinued paint scheme.

You may be referring to the oakway sd-60's , painted in the EMD blue and white.

Perhaps what you saw were Oakway Leasing units. These are generally in the EMD blue and white. I believe Oakway is EMD's leasing arm, so that would explain the colors.

Oakway & EMD lease units can be found just about everywhere right now. If it runs, somebody short of power has it out there.

I'm glad some of you out there mentioned Oakway units. These would be the only blue and white engines on BNSF.The only blue and white units I could think of were the GN units from the late 1960s,and they dissapeared in the early years of the BN.

The Great Northern did have some blue and white diesels and they were repainted after the Burlington Northern emerged from the CB&Q, GN, NP, and SP&S.

Did you know that you can still see a set of Oakway SD60's on loaded & empty BNSF coal trains?

Yes, BNSF9838, I did. That's why I started this thread. When I saw one on the tail end of a coal train, I thought it was pretty cool. But I haven't seen any of them in a couple years.
Oh, I have a question for you BNSF9838 in my Cool Graffiti thread.

The Oakway SD60's are an example of "power-by-the-hour" leasing. Oakway is not directly connected with EMD but did own the SD60's. The lease rates to BN were determined by the amount of electricity produced by the main generator of each locomotive.
