I have ridden the Southwest Chief from LA to Albuquerque more times than I can count. It is very beautiful, and by train you see some of the most spectacular items, which you cannnot see by road. I highly reccomend it for everyone.

Northern Arizona is a great area. The scenery up there is incredible. Lots of trains rollin too.
I think Flagstaff is one of my favorite towns in the US.

Um.........50,000,000 Trains? This line see 70 a day plus Amtrak (no C) every 3 days. You were off about 49,999,930 trains.

I went from Flagstaff AZ to Grants NM in one Day to pick up My Daughter and drove I 40 (old Route 66) and was amazed at the amount of train Traffic in the most awesome scenery I have seen in along time( Mountains, canyons, bridges, run down railroad equipment , to old Route 66 deserted stores, cars and assorted buildings), if you have a chance do not forget your camera, I Did!
Has anyone else been to Gallup and watch the fifty million BNSF trains, and one AMTRACK Go through town, I know East coast Guys are always bragging about how great railroading is out there, let me know what Hot spots you have found, or have you seen anything cool between Flagstaff and Grants, thxs for your time, Mike
