It would be nice if History Channel did a special mini-series on American Railroad Industry
1) Early Beginnings/Growth
2) Golden Age
3) Decline
4) Rebirth
5) Modern Day/Rebuild
Trains all the time sounds great! How about something like c span but t span. Some dispatching stuff, derailments, specials, long trains, last trains, passenger.....etc... I like it!
Victrola1All that time has given a greater opportunity for niche market documentaries. How long until there is an all trains, all the time network?
Well that might be just a bit much but how about a channel called " Planes, Ships, and Trains"??
"57 channels and nuthin' on." Probably most of the world's reaction. All that time has given a greater opportunity for niche market documentaries. How long until there is an all trains, all the time network?
BNSF still has lots of SD40-2s. The ones that were retired, to my knowledge, are original BN units under lease and these were returned - all other SD40-2s should still be earning their keep.
If I remember the episode correctly, a lot has changed in 5 years. Cajon Pass is now triple-tracked, BNSF retired the SD40-2s. Obvouisly the industry's tonnage & revenue numbers have changed.
However, it is a very good episode and will probably watch it.
I saw the episode when it came out, and I liked it. Thanks for the heads-up, I wanted to see it again for awhile now. Thanks!
So many scales, so many trains, so little time.....
