Railfanning in Colorado & New Mexico.
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, June 13, 2004 1:26 AM
Hello,
A while ago several of you were kind enough to reply to a previous request for help, since then I have had to revise our itinerary, realising that Denver to Las Vegas and back was not going to be a relaxed holiday for both of us on our two week visit from the UK. We are now starting from Colorado Springs then to Durango for a trip on the railway, across to Santa Fe & Trinidad ending up in Boulder from where I hope to be able visit the Laramie & Denver area as previously advised, my time will be very restricted could you suggest precise locations en route to railfan from.
Many thanks for your help.

(1) When he gets in, he ought to go to lunch or dinner at Giusseppe's while the joint line runs out the window by his table (and the local power parked next door plus the DRG narrow gauge engine across the street)
(2) Trolley barn at Roswell (Septa PCC Cars from Philly)
(3) Kelker and the US Army railroad (if the power is out?, GP-16 and GP-9M)
(4) A short visit to Crews or Palmer Lake on the Joint Line
(5) the GE 110-T at Drake power plant (or the shuttlewagon)
(6) Van Briggle Pottery / Colorado Midland Roundhouse

c'mon FT, give your town a break! Boring to you is new to Roger!

and then Pueblo to Canon City to Parkdale to Alamosa to Monte Vista to Creede to Durango to Gunnison to Curricanti/Cima to Chama to Antonito to Blanca to Trinidad/Raton to Jansen to Walsenburg to La Junta to Limon to Byers to Denver to Golden to Georgetown to Loveland to Ft. Collins to Laramie to Cheyenne over Sherman Hill to ....Denver..... our friend Roger ought to have a blast (and ought to get lots of film/ digital file space!) Something at each place listed, what has FT seen??

What Roger needs is a "where to look" so he does not waste time stumbing around trying to find stuff........Get Roger a set of directions that keep him moving and looking during daylight hours.....

PS Roger - leave the umbrella at home and find some sunscreen when you get here![8D]
