Plans for "Southern Belle"?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, June 3, 2004 11:16 PM
Well tonight I saw a surprise,....at the tail end of a NS mixed freight, eastbound on the old Wabash, was a beat to death Amtrak car named "Southern Belle". It looked ghostly with soot, broken and missing windows, completely dark.

Anybody know what's up with this?

I checked out the private railroad cars for carter site (link below) and didn't see it listed. It is possible that the car is going somewhere for repairs to bring it back up to Amtrak standards for leasing use. It is also possible that someone is going to use the car for other things.

Here is the link.
