and then search the message archives for ''trail'', Horseshoe, etc.

Breifly, the 3 miles seems about right.  It starts from a fish & game or rod & gun club, etc. on the northern side of the railroad, which is accessed by a bridge/ culvert under the railroad, which seems to comes off of a shared driveway.  I understand that parking places are available, but I 've never done it, so I don't know about how to arrange or clear that.

For that same reason, I don't know for certain who owns the land, or who - if anyone - has been authorized to grant permission to hike up the trail, so you'd be 'proceeding at your own risk'.  Supposedly it was or is owned by a coal company from one of the nearby towns - there used to be an ATV or dirt-bike course on it called 'Big Murphy' or something like that.  I doubt if it is a PA State Gamelands - it doesn't show up on the PGC's website.

I am trying to find a way to get to a trail that is on the northern bend of Horseshoe Curve. There is an area I like to get to that is near the signal bridge. I have read it is a 3 mile hike and was wondering were I can access this trail and if there is a place to park your car?
