Union Pacific #3985

3985 is out on tour again. Currently it's about half way to Houston. Check out the Union Pacific website for a schedule, route map and they seem to have added a GPS tracking page that shows the engine's current location. I'm here in the Kansas City area and missed it a couple of days ago. The good news is that it will be coming back through around the 20th of June. Have fun and be safe chasing her through Louisiana and Texas over the next couple of days.

Saw 3985 just north of Garnett, KS on 6/22. Me and a cuple of other "foamers" from Emporia, KS were trackside as she flew past at 12:20PM. While we waited for it a southbound coal train went by, 2 units on the front one on the back. Then we saw 3985 coiming around the curve. She was on us in a second, and whooshed on by. I tried to pull out and chase her north-bound but ran into road construction so that was the end of that. I had seen her in KC on the south-bound leg. She was parked at Union Station in KC ( a great place to watch UP action). I'm still amazed at the size of this engine!!! Oh well, an hours wait for a few seconds of thrills......but it was worth the drive from Ft. Scott, KS.
