There were informal plans for a group to meet at Galesburg. This was actually suggested by Bergie. I am not able to go this year because of work. I am not sure if anyone else is actually going or not.

Aw, gee whiz -- but it was only brief meeting, and I know how to make a good first impression. Try asking Bergie what I'm like in person after 15 minutes or so! Anyhoo, it was good to meet you too, Dave.

Although I've never met Ed Blysard in person, I feel like I know him because I bought a nice custom-made fountain pen from him.

two things - I got my pens from Ed and I love them to pieces. And - those ads are a riot to watch. Love to throw them a curve once in awhile to see if they are paying attention!

The first forum member I met was Walter (Locomutt), about a generation ago. (When we went to that convention, my wife was pregnant with our first child, who is now pregnant with her first.)

Second was Mark Hemphill, briefly at Rochelle during Trains' 60th-anniversary open house.

But within the last month or so, I was delighted to meet two of the most popular forum folks, Mookie and Nora, with their respective families.

It's at times like this that I wish I were retired...folks coming to Chicago for a day or two probably wouldn't be able to visit, due to my work schedule (which includes evenings and weekends). But you're welcome to try!

(Seriously, not being retired has its advantages, too...I don't know what I'll do when I lose my userid at work.)

I'm still waiting for that first face to face meeting, I have only been a member here for 6 months, and the fact that I don't leave my house much, doesn't make it any easier to meet people.

I have had phone conversations with 2 of the members who frequent Classic Toy Trains. Of course that is where I spend most of my time and make most of my posts. I have also exchanged emails with over 100 different members here at Trains.com. I'm hoping to catch up with one or two members in July when Big Girl and I ride and chase 261up and down the Mississippi River.

Then try a little "Safeguard" and some hot water. lol [;)] [:)] [:D]

Right now I have just finished working 27 days in a row without a day off. This was suspose to be a 3 day weekend for all of us where I work. But my crew had to work tonight so our 3 day weekend is now a 2 day weekend. [:(] [:(!] [V]

Plus my spare time right now is being spent trying to study for my Airframe and Powerplant License.

Maybe sometime this summer I can come up there. I will just have to wait and see.

ok, this is for everyone who has met face to face with anther forum member, For
me I have met only 1 person and that the now dormant Railpac. He left us to moderate a forum at railroad.net. He thinks he is too good for us know that he has a Duct Tape T-Shirt and a Duct Tape Book Bag and a Duct Tape pair of Shorts and a pair of Duct Tape socks and a pair of Duct Tape shoes, and a pair of Duct Tape boxers. The poor chap is obbsessed with DUCT TAPE. anyway, who have you met on the forums? I am supposed to meet Jhhtrainsplanes and Raakone. But they have steered clear. I wonder if it is because I smell?
