The number, and silver color, sound like this was in non-revenue service on ATSF. Any chance you got a build date or Santa Fe classification (possibly FT-xx) off the car? That would help.

I visited the Natl RR museum in Green Bay recently and found an odd old Santa Fe flat car. The car is approx 80'90' long. It was painted in silver. The unit had some really odd trucks under it. Very unusual side frames.

I know that this is a very sparse description but does this ring a bell with anyone? [%-)]

I'm wondering if it was maybe a high-speed flat car for their early TOFC service.
