Don't get me wrong from my last statement, I don't sleep on the engines, but when you're running at 3am it is sure hard to stay awake, and in a way I'm glad that I'm not to comfortable. I like to know what's ahead of me.

Hello all,

I rode on one of these on Wednesday and I was glad to be on it. Working AC, comfy seat, insulated cab, so my ears didn't ring from the horn. If they put recliners in locomotives, there'd be so many accidents because we'd all be asleep!!! That's probably why most of the time I sit on a loco equipped with a tiny unfortable seat because it takes a lot more to get comfortable enough to doze off. [zzz]

It always seems to me that when I see pictures of the big mainline steam locos the engine looked so big and there was this tiny little window where the engineer and fireman stuck their heads out.

It seems that these diesels are getting so big now that whole look is starting to come back again......

does that make sense? [:)]
hmmmm......seems to me steam engines were big because they had a lot of parts necessary for making the engine work. Now they are big because they need queen sized beds, refrig/freezers/ recliners/ theatre sized tvs....eh?

One word: UGLY!!!!

AndI thought the EMD Demo's looked bad. They would have looked good in Bright Future but CSX had to change the scheme.

oooohhh, these locomotives are starting to look more and more like futureistic space craft.

To tell you the truth it looks a little more like an armoured tank than it does a locomotive.

I like the AC440s that CP has, but I'm not to crazy about that SD70ACe.

I think the EMD demonstrator colours weren't really suitable for the SD70ACe. The dark blue does look better. I'm sorry they haven't gone back to the previous cab design for production units, as I was hoping they might do!
