yeah a coal train derailed there a couple years ago.The depot still shows the scars. What made it worse was someone tried to beat a train coming up from lima going to defiance and was hit. as far as average daylight I would say 20-30 but most of the action is at night. And if you wanna come up well bring a lunch over.

Joe
I talked to a guy that used to work for CSX that ran to Toledo and has told me about that campsite you mentioned. He told me that there are quite a few people in your area that photograph there. He mentioned something to me at one time about a derailment that occurred there where the campsite is.

He has been telling me that he is going to take me up there sometime. If for some reason that should happen I'll give you a yell. He works with my wife in Covington now. He told me that the job was to demanding for him and that is why he left.

I may have asked you before but what is the average # of trains in your area? Daylight average.

Thanks so much,
Brian (KY)

saturday and sunday between 8 and 3 I would say are busy.it slacks off a little in the afternoon and then picks up about 7.Of course things are subject to change.People do camp at crossroads park overnight and report over 40 trains a night so thats good too.Email me and can give you a tour and directions.

This past weekend checked out the action in Deshler.A santefe warbonnet(799) was stuck south of town seemed the crew ran out of time.Saw a cp/soo line engine combo run up the wye to go north to Toledo.a lot more north south track action then east west. Even had 3 trains lined up to move south of Deshler at once too.2 northbound and 1 southbound. The local historical society is planning on moving the B&O caboose into crossroads park. Also heard the defect detector go off for a esatbound to Willard. Was set off by 4 diffrent locations for dragging equipment.Met some new people and even a track guy for csx who came up and asked "hey whats for supper?".Thats my report hope your weekend went good too.Pics available upon request.
