Got down to Sturtevant, WI last Friday evening. It was a beautiful evening so I grabbed some shots of the old depot. Only the "witches hat" section was really visible. Managed to catch a shot of southbound Hiawatha passing the depot.
After thinking about it my Grandfather worked for the Milwaukee Road from 1919 to 1950 and almost everyday he worked he would have stopped at or run passed the Sturtevant depot. He worked the Elkhorn to Corliss(Sturtevant)train and then the Milwaukee to Chicago daily runs.
Here some shots of what remains at Sturtevant, WI
The witches hat section waits to be moved
The bogeys under the depot
Southbound Hiawatha train led by a Cascade Cabbage loco passes by
The sun slowly sets on the Corliss, Sturtevant Depot. Thanks for the years of service.

kschmidt It is being prepared to be moved. However it will not be trackside in its new home. It being moved to a historical site in Caledonia, WI to join Caledonia's town hall I believe. However the station or the peices of it can only be moved between 12midnight and 4am and can move along at 5mph. 4 hours is not long enough to get the station to the new location so they have to find a farm field to park it during the day. That's about all I can add to the station status. Keith Schmidt

Man that's surprising. I was only inside that depot twice - when my dad, my sister and I took a day trip to Chicago just after the Amtrak start-up in 1971 (think that was the year). The depot looked awfully fragile then. I remember it was an ex-Penn Central F7 or FP7 on the way down, still in its PC livery and markings, and we had an Amtrak covered wagon on the way back.
I stopped by the site of the old Amtrak station (former Milwaukee Road) in Sturtevant, WI this afternoon on my way back to Chicago and found it had been (seemingly) partially dismantled and what remains is currently sitting on the property and on bogey wheels and looks like it is being prepared to be moved to another site (for preservation?). Does anybody know what is planned for this building?
