[xx(] i have been a running trades employee for 20 years and although i love the work i hate the management i work for!!!!! my job has become somthing i hate to go to everyday because of the stubborness, incompetence and complete disdane for the employees displayed by hunter harris and his band of millionaire cronies.railfans may disagree and think he is a great guy but try working for him or any other railroad with the likes of him[sadly most share his philosophy]...oh and before u say it " CANADIAN" national did make money before it was privatized.creative accounting hid this to make it look like a money loser.granted there was fat to trim but this was done and it was still a good place to work until a south of the border way of doing things was implemented.

Be carefull what you say, it isn't Canadian National anymore, it's CN.....
They don't want people to think they are a canadian company anymore.

The way HH is running the CNR it may soon surpass CSX as a very, very bad place to work. Who knows. CN may degrade to the point where CSX will buy it. I just hope I'm retired by then with a full and decent pension. HH has his eyes on our pension plan and since the Canadian government has all but abandoned the employees on CN I'm very concerned about the long term viability of it. I really feel bad for the junior guys that may still have a job after HH has finally ceased the blood letting. I've never seen the company in such poor shape in the 34 years I've been with it. It's just barely coasting along on the backs of the older and more experienced employees. These guys can't wait to get out. And I'm one of those guys with less than 3 years and 1 month to go. Unless you're a sadist and/or a masochist I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone. I couldn't run a company like HH is running the CNR and expect to stay in business long. Maybe the desolation of CN is what HH has in mind. Signal Mechanic. Signal Department. Canadian National Railways. [:(][:(!][V][}:)]

Funny, I don't think I've heard one good thing about working for CN in the past few years.

CN will always be Canadian National to me.
CSX will always be Chessie System to me.
CP Rail will always be Canadian Pacific to me.
BNSF will always be Santa Fe to me.
You get the picture....
But really, why does Canadian National go to the GULF OF MEXICO!!!! I miss the good old IC.
It sure seems to me tha CN is the UP of Canada--it's buying, merging, or taking over seemingly everybody.
They can't buy model railroad though [:)]!
See you around the forums,
Daniel
