There is Milw/Soo Bandit still around
Posted by bnsfkline on Friday, April 30, 2004 5:54 PM
Well, I was going through the photos of Railpictures.net, and I found this photo. Taken not even a week ago. There is a bandit still roaming the CP system. Its been 18 years since the bandits appeared and they have nearly vanisheed. This is the last known SOO bandit to be around. Has anyone seen a unit so battered, if have, post the picture for all to see. BTW, this is not my photo!

But this one is.

Surely you are not the bandit. This does not sound anywhere near like something you

Actually, there have to be at least two of them...a photo of the last freight going over the old swing bridge near LaCrosse this past week showed it being pulled by a pair of them.

We still see the occasional bandit at the "Head of the Lakes'. I'll often see one as part of a lashup switching grain cars (actually, AND other freight) in Duluth (MN) and Superior (WI). I'm usually at 55 on a bridge when I see it, so no number to report!

Greetings,

I just saw the #2057 GP40 in Milwaukee Road/Soo Bandit working the "Lake Job" in Milwaukee, WI on May 4th. It was sitting down on Jones Island. Actually most of the black patch on the side of the locomotive has worn off so it looks like more like a real Milwaukee Road unit. The "Lake Job" usually works down on Jones Island (Port of Milwaukee) from 4:00pm until 10pm. With occasional runs into town with double stack cars. Unfortunately I didn' have my camera.

So the Bandits definitely still exsist.

Keith Schmidt KC9LHK You don’t bring nothin with you here and you can’t nothin back, I ain’t never seen a hearse with a luggage rack. George Strait Check out Flickr Train Photo Page
