Here is a collection of video clips documenting the sights and sounds of a French RTG Turbotrain starting up.

(1)  Outside view of RTG.  I believe it is starting its auxilliary turbine:

00:32, turbine starts.  00:42, ignition.  01:03, operating rpm's reached.

Total ramp time:  approx 30 seconds.

(2)  Inside view of RTG.  Turmo XII, main engine starting (this is the turbine that drove the transmission that propelled the train):

00:20, turbine starts.  01:23, governor steadies turbine at 1900 rpm.

Total ramp time:  63 seconds.
