Boy, does that bring back memories...
Last time I was railfanning in that neck of the world the diesels would have been Alco covered wagons with cigar band NYC colors. Passenger trains on the east side line would have had Hudsons or Niagaras...
Thanks for sharing.

In my ongoing interest in locating various elevated overlooks of railroads, I took a ride up to the Cold Spring-Breakneck area of NY along the East Shore of the Hudson across the river from Storm King Mountain, which itself is located just North of West Point, NY. Armed with a trail map, I began climbing Bull Hill, also known as Mount Taurus. The summit is approximately 1300 ft above sea level...but several nice views can be had along the way up. The first was located about 15 minutes into the hike at approximately 300-400 feet elevation. The view was from the rim of an long ago abandoned quarry. A Northbound CSXT Q438 is seen rolling up the CSX Riverline, as the Engineer attempts, and finally succeeds in contacting Track Foreman Polazzo to obtain permission through a worksite near Newburgh NY.
