Meridian & Bigbee

I just returned from a trip to Mississippi, where I was fortunate enough to spend several hours in Meridian watching trains. (Thanks to all of you who directed me to the newly-built depot. This is a GREAT place for trainwatching)!
Besides seeing KCS, GWWR and BNSF (run-through) units, I spotted Illinois Central #8317 and Meridian & Bigbee #107 assembling a train.
It was difficult to see the entire locomotives, as they were moving back and forth on a track next to a stopped freight. However...the deep glossy black and gold lettering on the Meridian & Bigbee locomotive is the sharpest-looking paint scheme I have seen in a l-o-n-g time!
(There is a well-kept Meridian & Bigbee caboose on static display at the depot, with the same colors).
In an era where locomotives are frequently allowed to *show* hard use, or to be left covered with graffiti, congratulations to the M&B RR for selecting a classy paint scheme and for showing that they care about way their equipment looks!
