A recent thread on N. Am. vs. European freight diesels leads me to ask a similar question: What percentage of recent locomotives would you say have the forward "safety" front vs. what percentage does not? I saw pictures in last months' trains showing some new loco's GE had done for a Chinese line, and there wasn't a thrust hood or cowl among them. Perhaps in some countries there is a tradition to have the safety cab but in some nations it isn't?? - a.s.
